Marjan Kamali
Acclaimed Iranian-American writer Marjan Kamali explores identity and displacement while highlighting human connections in her novels. As a Turkish-born child of Iranian parents Kamali experienced a culturally diverse upbringing through her time living in Kenya, Germany, Turkey, Iran and the United States. Her numerous childhood experiences across different cultures serve as the foundation for her storytelling which creates universally compelling narratives. Kamali earned degrees from the University of California, Berkeley as well as Columbia University and New York University. Among her distinguished published works are Together Tea (2013), which reached the finals of the Massachusetts Book Award, and The Stationery Shop (2019), which attained bestseller status both domestically and internationally. The National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship honored her literary contributions in 2022.
